We operate on the South West coast of France between Biarritz and Contis. This stretch of west facing coast makes up the southern half of La Cóte ‘Argent. Small towns, farm land surrounded by dense pine forests and white sandy beaches come together to create one of the most stunning locations in the world.
The region of Les Landes is a testament to Napoleon Bonaparte who transformed the area from swampland. He ordered for hundreds of thousands of pine trees to be planted to dry out the land. And then to prevent the sea from taking the land back he ordered for enormous sand dunes to be constructed along the entire coast. The result of this ambitious project is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Our base is in Contis plage, A fantastic beach resort with a laid back atmosphere and one of Les Landes few remaining secrets! Emerging from the dense pine forests this small town boasts fantastic surf, minimal crowds, beautiful beaches and a superb summer climate. It is also home to one of the best blues bars outside of New-Orleans!
The Surf
This stretch of coastline forms the longest uninterrupted beach in Europe. North Westerly Atlantic swells are focused onto the beaches by a deep water canyon and then shaped into perfect beach breaks by the sand banks. The breaks in this region are heavily influenced by tide and the ever changing sand formations making the entire coastline a fantastically unpredictable surf paradise!
Sand bottoms and minimal crowds allow for surfers of all abilities to confidently take to the water. Surf destinations such as Hossegor, Biarritz and Contis have earned Les Landes the reputation of being one of the best surf locations in the world.
Besides the surf
Our flexible approach allows for our guests to enjoy a wide range of unique non-surf activities. We encourage our guests to experience French culture and our holidays can incorporate a variety of activities. To view our full list of optional extras click here.
We highly recommend visits to the Les Landes National Park, the Biarritz Museum of the Sea and The Biarritz Museum of Chocolate. This region also offers fantastic water parks, outdoor adventure centres and golf courses including the famous Moilets Plage, a challenging course with breathtaking backdrops.
Excellent fresh, local and organic foods are readily available in restaurants, cafés and delicatessens. The coastal towns in this region have a vibrant atmosphere with excellent bars and night venues offering a variety of live music.
